Afternoon snooze, anyone…?

I have a secret! I will tell you what it is as long as you do not judge me for it…

I love to snooze in the afternoon

I love naps. I love resting. I love hopping into bed for a full-on sleep after lunch. It is one of my life’s pleasures. And now I have moved to Crete, where most of the shops and businesses close for siesta time… I get to nap guilt-free!

In the summer here, many businesses open early at 7.00 or 8.00am and close early, between 2.00pm and 5.30pm. Then they open up again well into the evening. The streets are quieter in the afternoons and the scene is set for enjoying a homemade meal followed by a relaxing snooze.

Reasearch shows that most people do not get enough sleep. That is enough deep, relaxed and restful sleep to fully recover from the stresses and strains of their day.
